Wayne Elroy Roode – 73, Bible Hill, passed away, with his loving daughters at his side, on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Belmont, he was a son of the late Ralph and Myrtle (McRae) Roode.
Wayne worked as a welding instructor at Nova Scotia Agricultural College and then owned and operated his own business, Wayne’s Saddlery, Boot and Harness until a short time before his death. He was well-known at Truro Raceway; he absolutely loved horses and also owned race horses. He was always happy, had a positive outlook on life, a great laugh and was the life of the party. He loved life and enjoyed spending time in nature, especially enjoying trail rides with family and friends. Wayne’s K-9 companion, Bizzy, was never far from his side.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Ashley Purcell, Lindsey Roode, Kelsi Roode, all of Calgary; granddaughter, Savannah Purcell, Calgary; siblings, Dorothy (Reg) Culgin, Belmont; Joan (Phil) Feit, New Glasgow; Sonny (Faye) Roode, Belmont; Janet Wagar (Sam), Calgary; Phillip (Joyce) Roode, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Reginald Roode.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his valued patrons for their support over the last 30 years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Celebration of life will follow at Wayne’s Saddlery from 2:30–7 p.m. If so desired, donations in Wayne’s memory to Truro Raceway or 4-H Nova Scotia are welcomed.
